The glacier of Mont Blanc and the Bossons, a spectacular natural site, inspired Horace-Benedict de Saussure, in his work, Voyages dans les Alpes (1779-1786) to proffer this most flattering description: "The majestic glaciers, interspersed with deep forests, crowned by granite rock of astonishing height, carved into enormous obelisks, garnished by snow and ice, present one of the grandest and unique spectacles that one might possibly imagine."
