The Mont Blanc rises to
the altitude of 4807 meters, making it the highest summit in
Western Europe. It is also the source of the largest ice cascade
in Europe, the glacier of the Mont Blanc and the Bossons, that
finishes its descent 3600 meters below in the Valley of Chamonix.
The Mont Blanc was conquered for the first time 1786 by Jacques
Balmat and the Doctor Paccard.
